Weekend Update...a little late

My plans for the weekend didn' t quite pan out. I wanted to get in some more finishes but it just didn't happen. I did get the stitching on the "boo" needlebook done but didn't have the right color sewing thread to put it together. So I decided to just stitch....stitch....stitch.
After finishing the needlebook it was time for "Scream House". I started on the interior walls and got 3 walls and 1 roof section done before my eyes just couldn't take it anymore.

"October Stamp" by Lizzie Kate

Sunday night I realized I hadn't done the October stamp by Lizzie Kate yet. I had to get it stitched so I can hang it on my new shelf. I just love this one and found the perfect fabric (matches the border) in my stash for the back. I'll make it into a little pillow later today and have it hung in time for October.

I still have to get my 1 ornament a month done for September. Boy did this month fly by. I'm doing another of the Just Nan's 12 Days today and since they go fast may even have it finished today. I'm way behind on these so will try to get caught up soon.

Until Next Time....Have a Great Week and Happy Stitching

Update on Scream House and other stuff

I managed to get all the exterior walls outlined and the exterior roof sections done . They can be seen here http://family.webshots.com/album/567277118cghhmv Before I start on the interior I'm planning on getting some more finishing done this weekend.

Had a nice trip to the LNS on Thursday and was a good girl again and only picked up two charts, some small cuts of fabric and the threads needed for one of the charts. I did pick up one of those Cord making things. Thank you Nancy for the suggestion of using the mixer but wouldn't work for me, mine is a stand mixer and is a bit large for making cording.

Until next time when I have some finishes.....Have a Good Weekend and Happy Stitching

Scream House

This is the description given in the chart...
Deep in the shadows of Happy Hag Hollow, just as the leaves begin to fall and frost nips at the pumpkins... the Scream House comes alive! Ghosts float out of the Halloween decorations, jack-o-lanterns try out their goofy grimaces, and the monsters and ghouls practice scaring each other. Hisses and moans, shrieks and groans fill the night air. Crows, bats, cats and spiders gather to watch the antics while the resident witch, Netty Nightshade, oversees it all from her lovely purple rooms.

There are 18 pieces to stitch and then assemble into the house. It is stitched on 30 count WDW Linen, Tin Roof for the exterior and Peoria Purple for the Interior, with WDW and DMC. The best part isn't shown in the picture (hehehe), the bottom section has the cutest little frog on it. I have finished stitching the "frame" of each of the exterior house parts and now am working on the roof. The last picture shows 2 of the 4 sides and the exterior bottom.

This one is going to take a while to stitch and then assemble but I think it will be worth every minute.

Until Next Time....Happy Stitching

More Halloween Stitching

This is the latest in the Just Nan Over the Top series. I still have the first two "hop" and "sizzle" to finish but have started on the "boo" needlebook. I am hoping to get all 3 finished this weekend. I'm going to the LNS tomorrow to get one of those little drill gadgets to make the cording for the tins.

Still have a little stitching and then some backstitching then this will be ready to put together.

Goals Achieved

WOO HOO....I achieved my weekend goals with 3 finishes. I think the finishing angel must have been on my shoulder as everything went smoothly and the frogs even stayed away.

First Finish....

"IF The Boom Fits...." by Lizzie Kate
This is for my daughter Manda and will be made into a wallhanging. I'm going to use the same fabric I used for the Flatfold.
Second Finish....

I stitched the top for this Biscornu last Spring and kept putting off stitching the bottom because it was on black and I was having trouble seeing it. I have very happy with the outcome and glad it is finally finished. I think the black beads really look nice but next time I use beads on the finish I will put them in every other stitch not each stitch.
Third Finish....

"Pansies Please" by Just Nan
This was done as a SAL in my ILCS Yahoo Group. We worked on it on Sundays and I am the last one to finish. I'm not going to attempt to frame this one myself. I want it double matted and I don't think I'm ready to try to do the spacing with the beads and the charm in the center.
I really can't believe that I got everything done but want to thank everyone for their encouragement. Now I have several more Halloween projects that I'm going to be doing for myself and another friend.
Until Next Time....Have a great Stitching week

Weekend Goals

The weekend is here again and I'm looking forward to NASCAR, Football and Stitching. I have set a goal of finishing three things this weekend.....

First.... This is another Lizzie Kate design for my DD Manda. Almost done stitching this one. I again have used threads from my stash to stitch the design and no one would even know the difference unless they saw a model stitched or stitched it themselves with the colors called for. I still need to get a silver spider charm for the top of the hat. I'm going to finish it into a wallhanging with the same fabric I used to make her Flatfold.

Second.....

This will be a very dramatic Biscornu. I had stitched the top (Grey with Black) top last Spring but have been putting off finishing the bottom on Black. As you can see in the picture the bottom is almost finished now. The fabric is 32 count and I'm stitching the design with #12 Perle Cotton. It is one of 5 free designs from http://www.cross-stitch-directory.com/ call Tudor.

Bottom

32 count Black Linen with DMC #12 Perle 415

Top

32 cout linen (not sure of color name) with #12 Black Perle Cotton

Third Goal.....

The last project I want to get done this weekend is Pansies Please. I will work on that on Sunday and should be able to finish it so I can kit up the next Just Nan project for the Sunday SAL.

Those are my plans and I think they are doable (is that even a word). What are your plans for the weekend?

Until Next Time (with some finishes)....Happy Stitching

Lizzie Kate Halloween Finish

This cute Lizzie Kate design was a really quick one to stitch. It is one of the three my daughter Manda picked out for me to stitch for her. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish it off but Tracy thinks I should make it in a small pillow she can hang in her car. I need to find the perfect fabric for the back of it, think I want to match the green used in the wording.

"My Other Car Is A Broom" by Lizzie Kate
Stitched on 32ct Lavender Belfast Linen with
WDW, GAST and DMC threads
Buttons by Just Another Button Company
Now I'm working on "If the Broom Fits" and it's taking a little longer to do since I stitching on 28 count Black Cashel. It should be done by the weekend and will update again when it's added to the finished pile.
Until Next Time....Happy Stitching

Another Finish

This was a quick stitch that was a lot of fun to do. Thanks to Meari and her Flatfold class (I can believe I remembered all the steps) it is now a flatfold for my daughter.

I had everything I needed in my stash and didn't have to shop for anything. I'm not real sure I like the bow on the top so may redo it.
Now I'm doing a small Lizzie Kate "My Other Car Is A Broom" then I only have one more to do for Manda and I can get some Halloween things done for me.
Until Next Time....Happy Stitching

Weekend Update

It's been a very quiet weekend here with lots of good stitching time as you can see. After finishing the Pumpkin Patch on Friday night I drove right into working on "Charmed Best Wiitched".

"Charmed Best Witched" by Hinzeit
Stitched on 28 count Antique White Jubilee
with DMC
I have just started the broom on the right of the lettering and with any luck I'll get it done tonight. Then all that will be left for tomorrow is a little backstitching and adding the 3 star charms. I found the perfect fabric for the flat fold in my stash (purple with orange and yellow moons and stars) and I'll probably get everything cut and put together before I finish the stitching so it will be all ready when the stitching is done.
If you haven't seen the weekly Michael's ad for this week they have frames on sale anywhere from 40-55% off. I think I will have to go see what I can find for Pumpkins and some other things waiting in the wings for a frame.
Hope everyone has a great week and our friends in Texas are safe and will be back with us soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have lost so much in the storms.
Until Next Time....Happy Stitching

A Finish and A Start

It is FINISHED!! "Pumpkin Patch" is now ready for a frame. Several have asked if I am going to frame it myself and I think I will try. I want a heavy dark wood frame for it and will be on a search for one. It is a odd size so may have to get the kind where you can buy the pieces and put it together. I am really going to miss working on this but still have the companion piece "When Witches Go Riding" to do.

Next Project.....

I have 3 more projects (or is that 4) to stitch for Halloween. Again these are all requests of my DD Manda and so I will try to get most of them done. I want to do "Charmed Best Witched" twice, once for Manda and once for myself. I plan on making a flat fold from this design.

I will be working on Pansies again on Sunday and should have it finished then. Not sure how I'm going to finish it but will probably have it framed since I want it double matted and not sure about the frame.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching

Pumpkins, Pansies and Good News to Share

This will be my last update on these two projects before the Big finish. They will both be finished by the end of the weekend. If you click on the pictures you will get a much bigger view.

Now for some exciting news. I got the call I have been waiting for from my DD and all she said was "Think Pink". Yes, she is gracing us with another grandchild. After having two miscarriages she is finally having her third child. She is past the point where she miscarried and everything looks great this time. They saw the sonogram today, heard the heart beat and got the assurance that everything is going smoothly this time. Looks like I'll be in Arkansas for Easter this year. Please keep Manda and the baby in your prayers that everything goes well this time.
Until Next Time with finishes.....Happy Stitching and for those in the path of IKE stay safe.

Almost Pumpkin Planting Time

After doing all the finishing on Sunday I spent Monday working on the Patch. The end is near and I should be on the Pumpkin Patch below the house very soon.

I'm going to spend the next couple of days working on "Pansies Please". I am so far behind in this SAL and I really need to get it finished so I will be ready to start the next one with everyone else.

Weather.....
Yes we had some weather today other than sunshine. A thunderstorm blew through during the afternoon and it was so nice to see some rain again. There were reports of Palm trees being hit my lighting but no one was hurt.

Until next time with a update on Pansies....Happy Stitching

On A Finishing Roll

This weekend I really wanted to get my stash organized and some projects into their finished form. Didn't get much organizing done but did well on the finishing......

Quaker Smalls Ornament for ILCS Exchange.
I finally found the fabric for the backing. I found a deep red that has a little shine to it. It is a great match to the red on the front. I finished it off with some sparkly gold ribbon.

Coq Au Pins Scissor Pocket
This was a totally different finish for me. The directions had me a little confused at first but finally figured it out. I'm sure the next one will be much easier. The back of the pocket says "My Scissors" and has more of the little chickens on it. I purchased the Rooster Scissors just to go with the pocket.

Coq Au Pins Needle Nanny
This was a really fun little finish. I purchased the kit for finishing and I know I will be doing more of these. What's a Needle Nanny? It is a place to park your needle without having to put it in your fabric. There is a little magnet inside under the stitching that will hold your needle and another magnet on the back so you can attach it to your project. I was amazed at how strong the magnets are.

This is really Tracy's finish, I can't take any credit for it other than hanging it. It is straight on the wall, I just wasn't holding the camera straight when I took the picture. For several months I have wanted a shelf with the pegs to display my stitching. We have looked and looked and didn't find what I wanted. There were shelves with 4 pegs, shelves with no pegs but not what I wanted. On one of our trips to Michael's during vacation we found this one in unfinished pine. Tracy stained it for me and I just love it. Now I have a great place for the LK Stamps, flat folds and other small stitched pieces. I plan on changing the stitched pieces with the seasons or holidays.

Lizzie Kate Monthly Stamps
I got the stitched Stamps made into little pillows. I'm going to do all of this way to display on my new shelf. Each piece is backed with fabric to go with the stitching.
Now to reward myself I'm going to stitch a little on "Pumpkin Patch" and tomorrow may bring some more finishes. I need to make some "Stitch Pickers", "Stitch Counters", "Beaded Scissor Fobs" as gifts.
Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching

My First Attempt at Framing

I did it !!! This is my first attempt at framing and I think it came out really well. This is a birthday gift for my DD Manda and I think she is going to love it (I hope she does). I found the mat on sale at Michael's for only fifty cents and the frame was on clearance at WalFart for $7, finished project priceless.

One finish off my list so now I can reward myself with a little more stitching LOL
Until Next Time....Happy Stitching

HELP....Someone Stop Me

The plan for today was to start organizing my stash. If I don't do it soon I will be under my mountain of charts, fabric and items stitched waiting to be finished into something. I told myself after I got the verse done on Pumpkin Patch I would put it away and get started on organizing and work on some finishing. RIGHT! For some reason I just can't stop stitching. I have a new box of file folders for charts, labels to print for the folders, plastic containers for projects, supplies ready for finishing and what I'm I doing....you got it right, I'm still stitching on Pumpkin Patch. HELP....this piece has me bewitched and I just can't stop stitching on it. LOL Guess I'll just have to get Tracy to hide it from me.

Pumpkin Patch with Verse done
Until next time.....Happy Stitching

Update on Pumpkin Patch

As you can see I have put some time in on "Pumpkin Patch". It is now half done and there are only two more lines of the verse to do. I don't know what it is about this piece that makes it so hard to put down. I keep telling myself....just one more word and I'll put it down and before I know it another line is done.
Until Next Time....Happy Stitching

PIF Received

Isn't this beautiful!!! This is the PIF I received from Meari. It now has a home in my Biscornu Basket. Thank You so much Meari

September Finish

September is off to a good start with the finish of the Lizzie Kate "September Stamp". This was another fun one that I made my own by using colors from my stash. My choices are a little darker than those called for on the chart but I'm really happy with the outcome.

Also got another row done on "Pumpkin Patch". Almost half way done now and looks like it will be done in time for Halloween.

I've stayed up way to late stitching and my pillow is calling my name.
Until next time.....Happy Stitching
